<p>कोटा. मकर संक्रांति मंगलवार को हर्षोल्लास से मनाई गई। दानपुण्य, भंडारे व अन्य आयोजन हुए। गुड़-तिल की मिठास भी घुली। युवाओं ने पतंग उड़ाने का आनंद लिया। संगीतमय धुन के साथ ये काटा, वो काटा का शोर गूंजता रहा, पतंगें आसमान में लहराती रही। सुबह से ही शहर में मकर संक्रांति का उल्लास छाया। बच्चे, युवा पतंग व डोर लिए पूरी तैयारी के साथ छत-मैदानों पर जमा हुए और पतंग उड़ाना शुरू कर दिया। लाउड स्पीकरों पर हिन्दी-राजस्थानी गीत गूंजते रहे, अंगुलियों के इशारे पर आसमान में पतंगें उड़ान भरती रही। किसी ने गिरगिड़ी पकड़ी तो कोई पतंग को ढील देता नजर आया। उत्साह व उमंग के बीच युवा पतंगों के पेंच लड़ाते नजर आए तो आसमां में जमकर घमासान हुआ। पतंगों के कटने के साथ ही अलग है&#8230;जैसे शोर में संक्रांति का उल्लास झलक रहा था।</p>

<p><strong>Bomb Threat Delhi Schools:</strong> A political storm has erupted in Delhi after a class 12 student was apprehended for spreading bomb threats to 400 schools. The BJP has demanded an explanation, linking the student&#8217;s family to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). AAP MP Sanjay Singh stated that baseless accusations were being deliberately levelled just 15 days before the elections.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Political Storm Erupts</h2>



<p>Delhi Police revealed that the arrested child&#8217;s family was in contact with an NGO that opposed the execution of Afzal Guru. The family supports a political party. Police are investigating who is behind the child and their motive. This has given the BJP an opportunity to corner the AAP. BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi said that if the AAP doesn&#8217;t respond to the allegations, suspicion will deepen.</p>

<p>Delhi Chief Minister Atishi filed her nomination from the Kalkaji Assembly constituency on Tuesday. According to the affidavit submitted with the nomination, Atishi neither owns a car nor a house. She possesses approximately ₹77 lakh, including 10 grams of gold. In the affidavit, Atishi wrote &#8216;Not Applicable&#8217; in the column for her husband&#8217;s assets. The previous election&#8217;s affidavit listed assets worth ₹81 lakh in her husband&#8217;s name.</p>

<p>The 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, commenced on Monday, 13 January, attracting millions of devotees. While the event witnessed a massive turnout, the intense cold also took its toll. Following the Shahi Snan (royal bath), three people died due to the extreme cold and shivering. Additionally, approximately 3,000 people fell ill due to the cold, many requiring hospitalisation.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lauren Powell Jobs Falls Ill</h2>



<p>Lauren Powell Jobs, wife of the renowned Apple founder Steve Jobs, also attended the Maha Kumbh. Mahamandaleshwar Kailashanand Giri reported that she fell ill and is resting at his camp due to an allergic reaction. This is Ms. Powell Jobs&#8217;s first experience with such a large crowd. She is expected to remain at the Akhara&#8217;s camp until 15 January.</p>



<p>Over 3,000 patients sought treatment at the Central Hospital and other hospitals in the mela area. Dr. Manoj Kumar Kaushik, Chief Medical Superintendent of the Central Hospital, stated that a total of 3104 patients visited the Outpatient Department (OPD) on Monday. Of these, 262 patients were admitted, while 37 patients in critical condition were referred to other hospitals.</p>



<p>Furthermore, 650 patients were examined at the hospital, and patients were also transferred from the Jhunsi and Arail hospitals in the mela area to the SRN Hospital. 24 patients were referred to the SRN Hospital, of whom 12 were admitted, while the others were discharged after treatment.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">‘Engineer Baba’ and Harsha from the Glamour World </h2>



<p>Today&#8217;s youth, leading professional lives, are increasingly drawn to ancient Sanātana culture. <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Rambhadracharya Impressed by Arrangements</h2>



<p>Jagadguru Swami Rambhadracharya in Prayagraj stated, “I am extremely happy because I was the first among all the Acharyas to take a holy dip. I am impressed by the arrangements made by the state government. They have successfully managed such a large crowd here.” Storyteller Jaya Kishori also arrived in Prayagraj. She said, “Be like a swan and choose the pearls. When you come here, you take with you the peace, knowledge, spirituality, and culture of this place.”</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Kinnar Akhara: A Wish for Social Welfare</h2>



<p>The Kinnar Akhara performed the Amrit Snan with a wish for social welfare. The Kinnar Akhara was a major centre of attraction during the Amrit Snan. Under the leadership of Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi all members of the Kinnar Akhara reached the Sangam confluence in the afternoon and performed the Amrit Snan. Ramya Narayan Giri, a member of the Akhara, stated that on the occasion of the Amrit Snan, each member prayed for the happiness, prosperity, and welfare of the people of India and the nation. The Kinnar Akhara showcased their traditions with weapons in a wonderful display.</p>

The UGC NET Exam for 15th January to be Held on This Day, NTA Issues Notice


<p><strong>UGC NET December 2024:</strong> The National Testing Agency (NTA) has postponed the UGC NET December 2024 examination, originally scheduled for 15 January 2025. A new date has now been announced. The exam, previously scheduled for 15 January, will now be held on 21 and 27 January 2025.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Reasons for the Examination Postponement (UGC NET)</h2>



<p>The NTA postponed the UGC NET exam scheduled for the 15th due to festivals like Pongal, Makar Sankranti, and Basant Panchami. There were demands to reschedule the examination. The Higher Education Minister of Tamil Nadu had appealed to the Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, to postpone the exam. Consequently, the examination scheduled for 15 January was postponed.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Admit Card Release Date</h2>

However, the new exam dates were not announced at that time. The NTA also stated that the exam scheduled for 16 January would be held as per the scheduled timetable.</p>

<p><strong>Tony Book Passes Away:</strong> Manchester City announced the passing of their former captain and manager, Tony Book, at the age of 90. A legend, Tony played a total of 315 matches for Manchester City between 1966 and 1974. His death has sent shockwaves through the sporting world, with many prominent figures expressing condolences. However, Tony further solidified his unique place in City folklore by embarking on a hugely successful spell as manager between 1974 and 1979.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tony Leads City to League Cup Victory in 1976</h2>



<p>A high point of his time in charge came in 1976 when Tony guided City to League Cup victory at Wembley. He also led City to runners-up in Division One in the 1976/77 campaign. His extensive influence on the club was further highlighted in the following decade when working as a youth coach, he helped City win the FA Youth Cup for the first time in 1986.</p>



<p>He was later appointed Honorary President and also served as the lifelong president of the Official Supporters Club, remaining a hugely popular member of the matchday legends at Etihad home games.</p>

South Africa Gold Mine Disaster: 100 Dead, 500 Trapped


<p>At least 100 illegal miners have perished in the abandoned Buffelsfontein gold mine in the North West province of South Africa, succumbing to starvation and dehydration. Eighteen bodies have been recovered so far, while 26 miners have been rescued alive. These miners had been trapped for months. Over 500 miners are still believed to be inside the mine. </p>



<p>A cellphone recovered from one of the rescued miners contained two videos showing dozens of bodies wrapped in plastic bags inside a dark tunnel. The rescue team is prioritising the rescue of the remaining survivors. </p>



<p>The mine is reportedly approximately three kilometres deep. Police spokesperson Brigadier Sebata Mokgabone stated that they are currently confirming the number of fatalities and are hopeful of rescuing the remaining miners. Buffelsfontein is one of South Africa&#8217;s deepest mines.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Police Cut Off Miners&#8217; Food Supply</h2>



<p>It has been reported that the police attempted to seal off the mine to force the miners out, removing their ropes and cutting off their food supply lines in an effort to end the illegal mining operation.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Illegal Mining Common in South Africa</h2>



<p>South Africa, known for its vast gold reserves, has a significant number of gold mines. Illegal mining is prevalent in many areas. Groups of miners often illegally enter abandoned mines, left behind by companies due to unprofitability, to search for remaining gold. They live underground for months, bringing food, water, generators, and other equipment. Local communities near the mine report that many of their relatives were trapped in the mine for approximately six months, since July. Companies abandon mines that are no longer profitable, leading to informal miners illegally accessing and exploiting any remaining gold reserves.</p>



<p>These illegal operations are often run by syndicates who employ these miners and contractors. While they bring their own supplies, they also rely on others on the surface for resupply.</p>



<p>Police last year cut the miners&#8217; ropes and pulley systems used for accessing the mine in an attempt to force them out. A cabinet minister stated that the aim was to &#8220;eradicate illegal miners&#8221; and that the government would not provide assistance as they are criminals.</p>

<p><strong>Bihar Board Exam 2025:</strong> The Bihar education department has appointed flying squad officers to ensure the Bihar Board Intermediate and Matric annual examinations 2025 are conducted fairly and without malpractice. Responsibilities have been assigned to all districts. These officers are lecturers from teacher training institutions such as DIET, BIET, PTEC, and CTE. Their main roles include maintaining discipline during the examination, monitoring the movement of question papers out of examination halls, paying attention to suspicious activities, and resolving any problems that arise during the examination.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bihar Board Exam 2025: Officers to be deployed in 38 districts</h2>



<p>One flying squad officer has been deployed in each district. A total of 38 officers have been given the responsibility of preventing unfair activities in the examination. These officers have been instructed to reach their assigned districts by 30 January.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Board Exam 2025: Ensuring a fair examination will be their responsibility</h2>



<p>The officers will have to monitor the entire examination process by staying at the headquarters of their assigned districts until the examination is over. They will have to submit daily reports to the headquarters and senior officials. </p>



<p>Preventing question paper leaks and monitoring the movement of question papers out of the examination halls will be their responsibility. Ensuring the presence of police and magistrates at examination centres will also be their responsibility. They will also be responsible for resolving any problems that arise at any examination centre.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bihar Board Exam 2025: Number of examinees</h2>



<p>According to the Bihar Board, a total of 12,89,601 students will appear for the Intermediate annual examination 2025, while 15,81,079 students will take the Matric examination. The Intermediate examination will be held from 1 to 15 February, while the Matric examination will be held from 17 to 25 February.</p>

<p><strong>Yograj Singh Interview</strong>: Yograj Singh, father of former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, frequently finds himself embroiled in controversies due to his statements. Recently, he gave an interview to YouTuber Samdish, revealing several shocking claims. In this podcast, Yograj claimed he once wanted to shoot former Indian captain Kapil Dev because he was dropped from the team due to him.</p>

He came out of the house with his mother. I abused him badly.”</p>

Both of them conspired to remove me from the North Zone team. At that time, I decided that I wouldn&#8217;t play cricket, Yuvraj would.” He added, “I have never forgiven Bishan Singh Bedi .”</p>

<p>Yograj said, “When I was dropped from the team, I spoke to Ravinder Chadha, one of the selectors. He told me that the chief selector, Bishan Singh Bedi, didn&#8217;t want to select me because he thought I was Sunil Gavaskar&#8217;s man and because I was playing cricket in Mumbai. I was very close to Gavaskar .”</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Rajasthan Schools Closed Today </h2>



<p>Schools in Jaipur, Dausa, Sikar, Bundi, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Pali, Beawar, Dholpur, and Jhalawar, Rajasthan will remain closed today, 13 January. All schools up to class 8 will be closed. This decision has been taken in view of the cold wave. Tomorrow, 14 January, all schools in the state will be closed for Makar Sankranti. However, classes for students of classes 9-12 in government and private schools in Rajasthan will resume at 10:00 AM.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Holidays in Delhi</h2>



<p>The severe cold wave continues in Delhi NCR (Delhi NCR Cold Wave). The Delhi government has announced winter break for all government schools from 1 to 15 January 2025. Regular classes will resume from 16 January 2025.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Schools Closed in Bihar</h2>



<p>The Bihar government has announced an extension of winter holidays for all government and private schools. Schools for students up to class 8 will remain closed until 11 January 2025. All schools will also be closed on 14 January for Makar Sankranti.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Schools Closed Today in Gorakhpur</h2>



<p>Due to the cold wave, the district administration has announced school closures until 14 January. All government and private schools and Anganwadis will remain closed until 14 January, with classes resuming on 15 January.</p>

<p>All government and private schools in Haryana will remain closed from 1 to 15 January. Regular classes will resume from 16 January 2025.</p>
