Ahmedabad Plane Crash: The body of Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, a senior Air India pilot who perished in the horrific plane crash in Ahmedabad on 12 June, was brought to his Mumbai residence today. After the completion of the DNA identification process, his body was taken to his home in the Jal Vayu Vihar Society, Powai, where a tribute ceremony was held for his last rites. Pushkar Raj, father of Captain Sumit Sabharwal, paid an emotional tribute to his son outside their home.

Tribute Ceremony Held for Last Rites

His family members, friends, colleagues, senior Air India officials, employees, and many well-wishers attended the tribute ceremony. The residents of the society also stood by his family in this hour of grief, expressing their support and sympathy. Captain Sabharwal was remembered as a responsible, experienced, and dedicated pilot who set an example of discipline, courage, and excellent service in his professional life.

Special Arrangements Made for Traffic During the Final Journey

Considering the security arrangements, the Mumbai Police force was deployed outside the Jal Vayu Vihar Society. Special arrangements were made for traffic and crowd management during the final journey to ensure that all the rituals could be performed peacefully.

Captain Sabharwal was considered one of the most trusted pilots at Air India. His colleagues remembered him as an inspiring and helpful person. His family mentioned that he was not only professionally successful but also an extremely sensitive and cooperative person in his personal life.

Plane Crash on 12 June

It may be recalled that on 12 June, an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft heading to London's Gatwick Airport crashed near Ahmedabad. A total of 270 people died in the accident, while only one passenger survived. This tragedy has shaken the entire country.
